25 hand-colored aquatints, may be “more meritorious from an artistic than a literary point of view”; the images are certainly entertaining, depicting Tom’s woes while dancing at a ball, mistaking “a French milliner for a Hindoo goddess,” mounting an elephant for the first time, hunting a tiger, etc. The plates are watermarked 1826.

joints slightly rubbed, head of spine and lower edge of front cover each with
nick. Pages age-toned, with some instances of faint spotting; one plate with
