• Second edition, printed the year after the first, of Navas’ classic work on Gregorian chants. Through p. 76, he explains the theory and practice of the topic with concrete examples and two in-text engravings. From p. 77 to the end, his volume is composed of chants in plain song notation. Some of the chants are of his own composition; some are for six voices, others are “canto figurado,” and still others “canto de órgano.”

Uncommon. We locate only seven university library copies.

• Palau 151279. Publisher’s full antique pasta española with modest gilt roll at edges of covers, gilt ruling on spine above and below each band, and a center ornament in gilt in each spine compartment. Brass clasps. Light oil stain in some lower margins. A most satisfactory book.
