The
three exquisite and detailed engravings are the work of Francisco Agüera,
who both drew and engraved the images.
Medina, Mexico, 8204; Palau 135587. Publisher’s
treed sheep (“pasta española”), flat spine, gilt rules
on spine forming spine compartments, flower gilt stamped as center device
in each spine compartment. Fore-edges of plates extend beyond the text block
and are a little curled but certainly not tattered: This is the case in all
copies we have seen. Private ownership stamp excised from title-page. Very
old repairs to back of first plate. Occasional foxing.
In all, a very good
copy of a very important and desirable book.
